Round Rock Students Set To Compete In 'Texas Quiz Show'

The competition staged at the Bullock Texas State History Museum tests students' knowledge of history, pop culture, geography and more.

ROUND ROCK, TX -- Students attending Round Rock ISD schools have been invited to compete in the Texas State Historical Association Texas Quiz Show later this month.

The competition is scheduled to be staged at the Bullock Texas State History Museum.

Participating will be students from Canyon Vista and Walsh middle schools. Shantanu Throat of Walsh and Andy Tutuc, Saavan Myneni and Anish Maddipoto of Canyon Vista will compete with the top 34 history students in the state for the Texas Quiz Show.

Myneni will defend his title from the 2015 version of the Texas Quiz show where he emerged as champion. He faced Maddipoti in the final round during that competition's final round.

“The Texas Quiz Show was a really fun experience last year,” Myneni told district officials in an interview. “I’m looking forward to competing again this year.”

During Texas History Month, students competed in a series of fast-paced and progressively more challenging history quizzes, district offcials explained. The final round dubbed The Texas Quiz Show is a Jeopardy!-style competition with categories that include history, politics, sports, pop culture, weather and geography.

Prizes include a personal tour of the Alamo for the winner and his or her family, museum and entertainment all-access passes, signed books and gift cards.
