Julia Rosinski Bailey, who teaches chemistry to 10th graders at Round Rock High School was in the national spotlight this week.

ROUND ROCK, TX — A Round Rock chemistry teacher this week won $10,000 on the television quiz show "Jeopardy!"

Julia Rosinski Bailey, who teaches 10th graders at Round Rock High School, competed with other contestants vying for a grand prize of $100,000 in the teachers tournament that aired this week, as the Austin American-Statesman reported. Bailey didn't pull out a win in the quarterfinal round, but advanced to the semifinals that aired on Tuesday.

Bailey was a wild card with three others, according to the report. She ended up placing second place — good for a cool ten grand. The episode featuring Bailey's knowledge happened to air on her birthday, the Statesman noted.

The two-week teachers tournament was filmed in April, featuring 15 educators from across the country vying for prize money. The final question that sealed Bailey's contestant fate was under the category of "American Women." The answer: The Arizona State University College of Law was renamed for her. She guessed correctly (Sandra Day O'Connor, don't you know), but was bested in overall winnings by another contestant.

That's nothing to sneeze at. Alex, we'll take $200 for Way To Go!
