Round Rock Man Charged For Threats Against Church

Jason Albin, 25, accused of torching Hutto campus where youth ministry met after being evicted from home he shared with church members.

ROUND ROCK, TX — A Round Rock man was arrested after being accused of using social media to threaten to burn down a Hutto church, according to a published report.

Jason Albin, 25, was charged with making a terroristiic threat, the Austin American-Statesman reported, citing an arrest affidavit. The threat was made against a young adult ministry group named "Coffee House" that meets at the Hutto campus of the Fellowship Church of Round Rock that is located at 6659 U.S. 79 in Hutto, according to the affidavit.

A pair of churchgoers told police the man had been living with them until being evicted for drug use and abnormal behavior, according to the report. Subsequently, the church members saw a post on Albin's Facebook threatening to burn down the youth ministry's meeting place with everyone inside it, according to the report. Albin reportedly had also been a member of the youth group.

According to the sheriff's office, the two people who alerted them to the posts took screenshots of them. Some 40 to 60 people were in attendance at the Hutto campus of the church when police subsequently checked, according to the report.

The terroristic charge against Albin is a third-degree felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison. Albin was being held at the Williamson County Jail with a bail set at $1 million. A booking photo was unavailable.
