Police Chase Ends Near Round Rock, Stolen Firearms Seized
Suspect flees on foot after traffic stop before Williamson County sheriff's deputies discover a cache of stolen firearms in the car's trunk.

ROUND ROCK, TEXAS — A police chase on Tuesday afternoon that began during a routine traffic stop along Interstate 35 resulted in an arrest and seizure of stolen firearms, the Williamson County Sheriff said.
There was a heavy police presence at Wildwood Drive near Round Rock where the chase ended, Williamson County Sheriff Robert Chody alerted residents via Twitter. A suspect fled on foot after being stopped, the sheriff added. Deputies found the reason for the suspect's flight: A cache of stolen firearms now off the streets thanks to deputies' actions.
"Today, deputies attempted a traffic stop on vehicle that fled from police," Williamson County Sheriff Robert Chody wrote on Twitter, attaching a photo of the weapons to his post. "Driver fled on foot and was apprehended by deputies in the RR [Round Rock] area. Stolen weapons found in the trunk of the vehicle."

Chody ended his missive cryptically with the hashtag #NotInOurCountry.
No injuries were reported in the incident that began as a traffic stop. It's unclear why the vehicle initially was stopped. Sheriff's office spokeswoman Patricia Gutierrez told Patch she would have more details on the incident by Thursday, including the suspect's name.
