Round Rock Traffic Stop Yields $2M Worth Of Meth

ROUND ROCK, TX — An Alabama man was jailed recently after a traffic stop along Interstate 35 that yielded more than 70 pounds of methamphetamine, police said Thursday.
The bust dates to Saturday, May 5, after an officer initiated a traffic stop along the 2000 block of I-35, police said. A search of the Honda Accord pulled over revealed 71 pounds of meth, a discovery that led to the arrest of driver Nathan Leon Fields, 36, of Theodore, Ala., according to a police press advisory.
At the scene of the arrest, officers received conflicting stories from Fields and a passenger, police noted, but a police K gave a positive alert when deployed on the vehicle. Upon further inspection, a secret comartment was found within that gas tank meth with an estimated street value of $2 million, police said.

Fields subsequently was booked into the Williamson County Jail on a charge of Manufacture or Delivery of a
Controlled Substance, with bond set at $70,000. The passenger was not charged, police noted.
