Round Rock's Carter 337th Richest in Congress: How They Rank
The representative from the 31st district in Texas has a disclosed net worth of under $1 million.
Compared to his fellow Texas lawmakers Rep. John Carter of the 31st congressional district is not a rich man, according to Roll Call’s new Wealth of Congress Index.
But that doesn’t seem to hurt his popularity. Carter has won reelection six times since he was elected to office in 2002, and has captured more than 60 percent of the vote all but once.
Unlike some other richer legislators Carter was a government employee before his service in Congress, serving as a district court judge for 20 years from 1981 to 2001.

According to Roll Call, Carter has a net worth of $170 thousand, which isn’t too shabby. But compare that with Rep. Michael McCaul’s net worth of over $100 million, and Carter’s a pauper.
