Here are the top stories in Round Rock today:
- A Round Rock mother and son are standing their ground on making the public more aware about an incident that happened on April 29, 2022. This incident occurred at RRISD's GOALS Learning Center, attended by students "who qualify with an emotional disturbance." A male administrator appears in a video, throwing a 14-year-old student against a wall and then pinning him down to the ground for at least four minutes. The student's mother "reached out to the Department of Family and Protective Services to review the case. The institution came back and said the case was 'ruled out' claiming 'it was reasonable to conclude that the alleged abuse and neglect did not occur.'" - The City of Round Rock won a statewide excellence award for its Code Enforcement Resource Program at the 2022 Texas Municipal League Annual Conference and Exhibition. Round Rock's Code Enforcement Resource Program ensures that when a code violation flyer is left at a residence for tall grass or low-hanging tree limb issues, the city will also help provide you with a lawn mower or wood trimmer at no charge to you. (City of Round Rock)
- Last month, Texas began conducting random intruder audits, as a result of the tragic Uvalde school shooting massacre earlier this year. Four Round Rock ISD schools have been audited thus far. "Three of the campuses had no findings and one campus was found to have an exterior door open." The general audit states that "if a door is open, it must be manned by an adult." (KVUE.com)
