Significant WilCo Cops' Response Termed 'False Report'

Cops descended in force at 1100 block of Hidden View Place in Round Rock before the WilCo Sheriff's Office termed report as false.

ROUND ROCK, TX — A significant police presence in a Round Rock neighborhood on Monday afternoon that prompted officials to inform residents in avoiding the area turned out to be a "false report."

Williamson County Sheriff's Office deputies were at the 1100 block of Hidden View Place in Round Rock. Details on why the police had descended to the area are unclear. "Please avoid the area," the sheriff's office wrote on Twitter just after 5 p.m. "More information to follow."

Soon after that post, the sheriff's office termed the incident as a "false report." Later, the WilCo sheriff's office categorized the incident as a "swatting" case, the nomenclature referring to when a 911 call is placed solely as a way of deceiving an emergency service into sending a response team to a person's address.
