Sound Wall/Traffic Buffer Coming To Round Rock

Some residents will get traffic buffer with construction of sound wall on RM 1431, between Sam Bass Road and Royal Vista Boulevard.

ROUND ROCK, TX โ€” Recent action by state transportation officials are facilitating road projects related to sound reduction and new turn lanes to improve mobility โ€” including a key project in Round Rock.

Texas Transportation Commission action last month has yielded such project to be on the horizon. In Round Rock, some residents will soon get a buffer from traffic, following the construction of a sound wall on RM 1431, between Sam Bass Road and Royal Vista Boulevard, officials said.

During the expansion of RM 1431 from four to six lanes, noise levels were re-evaluated, according to Texas Department of Transportation officials. As a result, it was determined that the stretch of roadway was eligible for a sound barrier. The three-month project is expected to start in summer 2018 at a cost of $829,475. The contractor is SB Contractors LLC.
