Suspect Charged In Williamson County Fatal Shooting (Updated)

Archie Samuel Rogers Jr. of Bartlett, Texas, surrendered to SWAT team without incident early Saturday after woman shot dead on Friday.

WILLIAMSON COUNTY, TEXAS — A suspect has been charged with first-degree murder in connection to a fatal shooting that occurred on Friday, Williamson County Sheriff's Office officials said on Saturday.

Archie Samuel Rogers Jr. of Bartlett, Texas, surrendered to a SWAT team without incident early Saturday after police found a woman man dead inside a house at 624 W. Jackson St. at around 4:15 p.m. the previous day, police said in a press advisory.

Rogers was later located in along the 7200 block of Burnet County Road 243, according to police. At around 5:05 a.m. on Saturday, a drone with infrared capability was dispatched to spot the suspect on foot running away from a vehicle. By 5:12 a.m., Rogers surrendered to a Williamson County SWAT team without incident, according to the sherif's office.

Rogers is now custody at the Williamson County Jail without bond. The victim has not been identified pending notification of family, officials added.

"The Williamson County Sheriff’s Office credits the Bartlett Police Department, The Burnet County Sheriff’s Office, the Texas Department of Public Safety and the Texas Parks & Wildlife Game Wardens for working together to not only identify the suspect, but to apprehend him within thirteen (13) hours of the initial call," the sheriff said in a prepared statement.
