Thanksgiving 2017: What's Open, Closed In Williamson County

Take note of upcoming city functions closures, postponed city meetings and 'gobble up some love' in adopting shelter animals.

WILLIAMSON COUNTY, TX — County offices will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 23, and Friday, Nov. 24, for the Thanksgiving holiday, officials announced.

County offices will resume operations on Monday, Nov. 27. Moreover, the Commissioners Court meeting usually staged on Tuesdays will not take place on Nov. 28, officials added. Instead, the gathering will take place following the holiday on Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2017.

The Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter (WCRAS) will close on Thanksgiving Day, but will be re-open on Friday, Nov. 24, during their regular business hours. Officials urge residents to "gobble up some love" with their upcoming “Name Your Price” adoptions on cats, kittens, and dogs from Nov. 20-27. Puppies are $75 to adopt. November also is “Adopt a Senior” month, so all animals over 8 years of age are free to adopt all month long. View adoptable pets at pets.wilco.org.
