WilCo To Break Ground On River Ranch County Park Center

Opening by fall 2020, the 4,836-square-foot recreation area will be a haven for nature lovers against a pristine hill country backdrop.

WILLIAMSON COUNTY, TX — Williamson County is breaking ground on an interpretive center for the county’s River Ranch County Park, officials revealed Monday.

The center is being funded with a $750,000 grant from Texas Parks and Wildlife and voter approved park bonds for a cost of approximately $1.9 million, officials said. Design Workshop is the architect, and Prime Construction Company Inc. is the contractor. The interpretive center will contain 4,836 square feet of space, 2,770 square feet of which will be air conditioned. \

The space will contain exhibits, classrooms, and meeting areas. Museum Services is creating the exhibits for the center, officials added. River Ranch County Park is anticipated to open in summer 2020, while the interpretive center is slated to open in fall 2020.

WHY: Comprising 1,354 acres of pristine Texas hill country, River Ranch County Park will yield an are for residents to hike, bike, camp, picnic and enjoy nature in one of the fastest-growing counties in Texas, county officials explained. The interpretive center will help educate visitors about the historic, natural and cultural resources that can be found in the park to help them enjoy their experience there, officials added.
