WilCo Offices To Close For Veterans Day

While county offices will be closed in observance of the holiday, the animal shelter will remain open to enable residents to adopt a pet.

WILLIAMSON COUNTY, TX — Williamson County offices will be closed for Veterans Day on Monday, Nov. 11, officials announced.

The county will resume normal working hours on Tuesday, Nov. 12. However, the commissioners court will not meet on that day, instead scheduling the next regular meeting for Nov. 19.

The Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter will be open regular hours on Monday from noon to 6 p.m. even as county offices are set to close. The day off from work and school yields an opportunity to adopt an adult dog, cat or kitten for only $4 on Veterans Day. The furry denizens of the Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter are poised to honor veterans next Monday with the adoption theme of "Paw-triots 4 Patriots."

The mission, shelter officials said, involves belly rub preparedness, bird watching expertise, mailman surveillance, hidden dog bone extraction and other tactical operations. "These dogs and cats may not be as brave and bold as our military veterans, but they do vow to be as loyal," shelter officials wrote in a press advisory.

Puppies are just $75 to adopt. To view adoptable animals or for more information, visit pets.wilco.org.
