Williamson County Honored For Excellence In Financial Reporting Again
Officials credited the standard set by recently retired auditor David Flores for the county's 26-year streak in earning the recognition.

WILLIAMSON COUNTY, TX — For the 26th year, the Williamson County Auditor’s Office was awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) for its comprehensive annual financial report, officials said.
The latest honor was for fiscal year 2016, according to a news advisory. Officials noted it also was the 12th year the county received the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence for their popular annual financial report (PAFR). The CAFR has been judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program including demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the CAFR, officials said.
The CAFR and PAFR are available on the County Auditor’s website at www.wilco.org.

“Williamson County has been the continued recipient of this award for so many years due to the high standards set by former County Auditor David Flores, who retired last year after 28 years with the county,” Julie Kiley, first assistant county auditor, said. “David insisted upon maintaining the highest standards in accounting so that we could be fully transparent to the citizens of Williamson County.”
The Summary of Grading report completed by the Certificate of Achievement Program Special Review Committee states that the county received a grade of “proficient” in all 17 applicable grading categories, officials said. The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management, they added.
