Williamson County Asks Residents To Register Security Cameras

Law enforcement officials urge residents, business owners to enroll in program to help fight crime in the community.

ROUND ROCK, TX – The Williamson County Sheriff’s Office is inviting residents to enroll in the video surveillance camera registration program aimed at fighting crime.

Many residents and businesses utilize surveillance cameras. But because occupants aren't always home, they may be unaware if their camera system may have captured images that could help solve a crime, police explained.

Enter the Community Camera Program. By registering your camera system with the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office, detectives will be able to identify what cameras may have captured criminal activity. Williamson County Sheriff’s Office officials said they will only contact residents if there is an incident within the vicinity of registered cameras. Detectives may then request to view the footage in order to assist the investigation.
