Other officers determined officer was intoxicated when he came to work Thursday, leading sheriff to assess public intoxication charge.

WILLIAMSON COUNTY, TX — A correctional officer at the Williamson County Sheriff's Office was jailed on Thursday for showing up to work drunk, officials said.

At around 4:45 p.m., the officer arrived to work at his duty station before his fellow officers determined him to be intoxicated, according to a county press release. The officers who observed their intoxicated colleague took him to the administrative offices where a review by senior command staff verified his inebriated condition.

Based on the review, Sheriff Robert Chody made the decision to place the officer under arrest for public intoxication and detain him in the Williamson County Jail.
