Williamson County Deputies Chase, Arrest Suspected Drunk Driver

Driver peels off as deputy tries to pull the car over, sparking chase that ended with a crash after road spikes halted the suspect.

ROUND ROCK, TEXAS — Police arrested a suspected drunk driver who led them on a chase Thursday night.

According to Williamson County Sheriff Robert Chody, the incident started just before midnight on FM 620. The suspected drunk driver is said to have fled as a deputy attempted to pull the car over, prompting a police pursuit. The chase extended from Interstate 35 northbound to the southbound portion of the highway before the suspected drunk driver exited 620 past Round Rock High School, Chody related.

Cornered in a dead end street, the driver then sideswiped deputies' vehicles in an attempt to maneuver around them. This prompted deputies to set up road spikes to stop the suspect, causing the driver to eventually crash on the I-35 southbound frontage road near Chisholm Valley Drive.
