Williamson County Implements Burn Ban
Burn ban in effect for at least 90 days to be strictly enforced, with violators fined up to $500.
WILLIAMSON COUNTY, TX — County officials on Tuesday implemented a burn ban in light of hot, rain-less weather that will be lifted only when conditions improve.
The burn ban is not to exceed 90 days, according to County Judge Bill Gravell. Violators to this order include those burning combustible material outside of an enclosure which serves to contain all flames and/or sparks, or orders such burning by others, the county judge explained. The burn ban prohibits the burning of household yard waste, such as leaves, grass, brush and other yard trimmings, he added.
The ban also prohibits burning to clear land of trees, stumps, shrubbery, or other natural vegetation. This order may be enforced by any duly-commissioned peace officer, and is a Class C misdemeanor punishable by a fine up to $500.
