Williamson County Implements Burn Ban
Amid triple-digit hear and scant rainfall, commissioners approve a prohibition for burining in unincorporated areas effective on Wednesday.
WILLIAMSON COUNTY, TX — An outdoor burn ban in the county's unincorporated areas is set to take effect on Wednesday and expire after 30 days, officials said this week.
The Williamson County Commissioners Court approved the order set to take effect at 5 p.m. on Wednesday (July 22) to continue for a period not exceeding 30 days or until the county judge decides to lift the burn ban if conditions — in the form of triple-digit summer heat — improve during the effective period of the burn ban, officials said in an advisory.
Violators of the order are those who burn any combustible material outside an enclosure which serves to contain all flames and/or sparks, or orders such burning by others, as officials explained. The burn ban prohibits the burning of household yard waste, such as leaves, grass, brush and other yard trimmings. It also prohibits burning to clear land of trees, stumps, shrubbery, or other natural vegetation.
