Williamson County Schools Get A+ and F Performance Grades

Children at Risk releases annual report on state performance results in yielding snapshot into how schools are doing.

WILLIAMSON COUNTY, TX — Three elementary and two middle schools ranked among the top 50 best-performing in the state while garnering a letter grade of "A+," according to a new report.

Children at Risk compiled its annual rankings as a guide for parents, educations and the public in yielding a snapshot on how schools are performing, according to its website. To that aim, the group assigns each school a grade from A to F in assessing that performance.

Three Round Rock ISD elementary schools were among the top 50 best-performing in the state, according to the study. Canyon Creek Elementary of Round Rock ISD was the region's highest-ranking school in the 12th spot. Six notches down was Laurel Mountain Elementary followed by Cactus Ranch Elementary in the 32nd position.

A pair of middle schools made the top 50 list: James Garland Walsh in the 33rd slot and Canyon Vista three notches below in the 36th position.

At the other end of the performance spectrum, one Williamson County high school earned a failing grade in the reckoning. Two Georgetown ISD elementary schools also got an F grade: James E. Mitchell and Annie Purl. Another elementary school, Goodwater Montessori School, also earned an F grade.

Both the Cedar Park Charter Academy elementary and high school operated by Priority Charter Schools were assigned F grades.
