Woman Forged Elderly Client's Checks: Round Rock Police

Alexis Dashae Givahn,20, is accused of stealing checkbook belonging to 89-year-old home health client and cashing forged checks.

ROUND ROCK, TX — A home health care worker was jailed after being accused of forging a check stolen from an 89-year-old client in Round Rock, according to a published report.

Alexis Dashae Givahn, 20, of Austin, was charged in November with exploitation of an elderly individual, the Austin American-Statesman reported. The victim's niece notified police in July that her elderly aunt's checkbook and driver's license had been stolen, according to an arrest affidavit referenced by the newspaper. The administrator of Halycyn Home Health subsequently told police Givahn had provided home visits to the victim, according to the report.

An investigation revealed that checks from the stolen checkbook had been forged and cashed at the Randall's grocery store at 1500 W. 35th St. in North Austin, according to the affidavit. One of the checks made out to Givahn reportedly was cashed for $820.

Police are said to have studied store surveillance camera footage showing Givahn cashing the check. Concurrent to the investigation, police were looking into another case involving another home health care client who may have been victimized, according to the report.

Givahn was released from the Williamson County Jail on Saturday after posting an $8,500 bail. She faces up to ten years in prison if convicted on the exploitation of an elderly individual charge, which is a third-degree felony.
