1. San Angelo ISD moves forward on $103.7M new Glenn Middle School construction (ktxs.com) — San Angelo ISD is moving ahead with a new $103.7 million Glenn Middle School, a two-story, 187,000-square-foot campus for grades six through eight. Funded through the district's 2025 bond, the project includes new facilities, utilities, sports fields, paving and demolition work across the San Angelo campus site.
2. 40K pounds of food to be delivered to CVRFB (conchovalleyhomepage.com) — Up to 40,000 pounds of food are headed to the Concho Valley Regional Food Bank in San Angelo on Aug. 26, with a public event at 11 a.m. and Mayor Tom Thompson attending. The donation, part of a nationwide America250 and JustServe initiative, will help feed families in San Angelo and surrounding communities while honoring long-term local service.
3. SAPD officer's injuries 'non-life threatening' after 1-vehicle crash (conchovalleyhomepage.com) — A San Angelo police traffic officer suffered non-life-threatening injuries after a single-vehicle crash Wednesday evening on the westbound Houston Harte Expressway, which briefly forced traffic to be diverted at Jefferson and Van Buren. Texas DPS is now handling the investigation, and local officials say more details will be shared as they become available.
4. Elks Lodge Offering Most Valuable Student Scholarship (sanangelolive.com) — High school seniors in San Angelo can now apply for the Elks Most Valuable Student Scholarship, with online applications due Nov. 12, 2026. The program offers hundreds of multi-year awards, plus additional Texas Elks scholarships, all supported locally by the San Angelo Elks Lodge on South Chadbourne Street.
5. Tom Green County Deputies Help Stranded Motorists (sanangelolive.com) — Tom Green County Sheriff's deputies in the San Angelo area recently helped two stranded groups of travelers, including a family of four dealing with car trouble and illness and a driver who ran out of gas. The agency says this kind of roadside assistance happens often but usually goes unnoticed, and it thanked residents for their continued support.
