Texas Judge Awards $8.58M in USPS Intersection Crash (expertinstitute.com) — A federal judge has ordered the U.S. government to pay nearly $8.6 million after a USPS driver caused a serious crash at a rural intersection near San Angelo. The court found the postal driver fully at fault for entering FM 765 at high speed without stopping, severely injuring a local family in the minivan.
2. Fatal ATV rollover kills boy in Tom Green County (conchovalleyhomepage.com) — A 12-year-old boy was killed in an ATV rollover Sunday on a private dirt road off Roberts Road in southern Tom Green County, near San Angelo. Deputies say an 11-year-old was driving when the utility vehicle overturned, trapping the victim; the driver was taken to Shannon Medical Center with minor injuries as the investigation continues.
3. VIDEO: Lake View Chiefs hoping to enjoy similar success as last year in 2026 (conchovalleyhomepage.com) — San Angelo's Lake View Chiefs are gearing up to build on last year's first winning football season since 2004 as they enter Hector Guevara's 10th year as head coach. With six starters returning on both sides of the ball and a guaranteed playoff berth from their four-team district, they open the 2026 season on the road at Fort Stockton Friday night.
4. Texas adds 1,600 jobs in July as private-sector employment grows (fox4news.com) — San Angelo's unemployment rate was 3.8% in July, one of the lowest among Texas metro areas as the state added 1,600 nonfarm jobs. Statewide, private-sector gains were led by education, health services, professional services, and hospitality, with Texas outpacing national job growth over the past year.
