Get ready for a last taste of summer at the Watermelon Dash San Antonio, happening on Sunday, August 9 at Mission County Park, 6030 Padre Drive – presented by Lonestar Running Company (LRC).
This sweet 5K/10K event kicks off at 7:30 a.m., followed by an awards ceremony at 8:45 a.m., and a Kids/Family 1K at 9:15 a.m. Open to walkers, runners and even parents with children in strollers – along with watermelon-themed fun, it’s too cool to pass up!
The Watermelon Dash also focuses on giving back. This year’s event will benefit three nonprofits that are making a real impact in their communities; Ainsley's Angels provides inclusive racing opportunities for individuals with special needs, Asher House rescues and rehomes displaced animals, and LifeGift Organ Donation saves and improves lives through organ, eye and tissue donation services across North and West Texas. Together, these organizations help ensure every mile of the event has meaning.
As the final race in LRC’s Summer Dash Series, the Watermelon Dash is a perfect way to celebrate the end of summer while supporting meaningful causes.
“We are building a community of people who are fitness minded and also believe in philanthropy – it’s really a perfect mix,” said Randi Schooley, co-founder of HRC and LRC. “We look forward to bringing families and friends together at any fitness level to celebrate community – and also enjoy some watermelon!”
Medals will be presented to the top three overall male and female finishers, top three Masters (40+) male and female, and first place age group winners (10-year divisions).
The San Antonio community is encouraged to come together for a day of fitness, fun, and giving back! Learn more and register at: SanAntonio.WatermelonDash.com/.
