Here are the top stories in San Antonio today:

  1. The cold weather is here, and San Antonio and Bexar County are ready "to serve the unincorporated areas of Bexar County" by keeping them warm. On Wednesday, Feb. 2, six warming centers opened at 7 p.m. and they're expected to stay open until noon on Saturday, Feb. 5, weather permitting. Warming centers are different than shelters, which offer cots and food, as they only offer temporary aid from the cold. Tom Peine, assistant public information officer for Bexar County said, "The warming centers are basically located one in each precinct... They're really just there for somebody who, for whatever reason, needs to warm up and not be out in the elements." Please note that with the exception of service animals, no other animals will be permitted at the warming centers. For more details visit: (KENS5.com)
  2. San Antonio's Islla Street Brewing, located at 11911 Crosswinds Way, made Hop Culture magazine's list of 20 Latinx-Owned Breweries to Support Right Now. The magazine "praised the breweries on its roundup for 'embracing ingredients from their culture and experiences from their traditions to influence their beer.'" The brewery, owned by siblings J.D. and Joshua Peña, opened in 2019, and it features San Antonio native flavors such as "papaya hefeweizen, pineapple empanada IPA and a blonde ale with cumin and cantaloupe" and of course, Big Rojo "Big Red" beer. 3. Art is in the air in San Antonio this February, and locals are sure to fall in love with various lovely art exhibits being held in the city. Several venues in town will be "featuring a variety of impressive works in video and photography, the figurative and surrealistic arts, American modernism, and fashion, fibers, and textiles" starting this month. It's an art lover's paradise! For a list of museums and upcoming art exhibits, visit: (culturemap.com)
