The latest from San Antonio, delivered straight to your inbox.
Good morning, neighbors! It's me again, Gabriela Couvillion, your host of the San Antonio Daily.
First, today's weather:
Mostly sunny and pleasant. High: 77 Low: 60.
Here are the top stories in San Antonio today:
- If you can't decide between Mexican or Chinese food, well now you can have both! The Chinese Mexican Grill on 1302 Somerset Road serves delicious Chinese and Mexican food, both under one same roof! The restaurant is a little red building with "taqueria-style exterior paintings of both tacos and sweet-and-sour chicken," so you just can't miss it! Their thick menu features Tex-Mex plates on one side and Chinese food on the other side, and their portions are very generous. They also offer a menu of cocktails, with Happy Hour from 3-5 p.m. (mySA)
- The "Texas Biennial returns with massive San Antonio footprint and a multifaceted showcase for contemporary art" and "for the first time ever, four Alamo City museums are hosting artworks for the massive exhibit." Those four venues are Artspace, Ruby City, the McNay Art Museum and the San Antonio Museum of Art. The event titled "A New Landscape: A Possible Horizon" features 51 artists with 175 artworks of all mediums and sizes. Some works are made of metal and paint, and there are some creations where you can walk around or under them. For more details on this exciting contemporary Texas art event, visit: (KENS5.com)
- The City of San Antonio Animal Care Services (ACS) is asking for your help in finding a "fur-ever" home for two San Antonio kittens named Boo and Winifred. Boo was hit by a car and although he's now fine, he still can't use one of his legs, and it may need to be amputated. He still "gets around perfectly and is as sweet as can be," just like Winifred, who looks at you "with big green eyes and will do anything for some pets and rubs." Visit the ACS located on 4710 State Highway 151, and meet Boo and Winifred Monday-Friday from 11-4:30 p.m. or weekends from 1-5 p.m. Who knows, you may decide to take one or both of them home with you! - Halloween is the perfect time for some "scary good eats and delightful sweet treats" and San Antonio is filled with top-rated restaurants that offer such treats perfect for the season! Tour New Braunfels for a "historically haunted downtown location" to eat. Visit a "local pizza favorite" on San Antonio's East Side and then stop to dine "at an iconic San Antonio Hotel." Enjoy "some fall-themed sweet treats from a local Fruteria" for dessert! Watch "Texas Eats," on Saturdays at 10 a.m. on KSAT 12, KSAT.com and streaming app" and "Boo-on" Appétit to you! (KSAT San Antonio)
- San Antonio's Emily Morgan Hotel has been listed as "one of the top 25 most haunted hotels in the U.S." Before it became a hotel, it was a medical building from 1924-1976 and then "was converted into modern office space." The most haunted floors of the hotel are the seventh, ninth and fourteenth floors, and they used to serve "as a psychiatric ward, surgery level, a waiting area and a morgue." With such a spooky history, it's no wonder the hotel is so haunted! Spend the night, if you dare, at the Emily Morgan Hotel located at 705 E. Houston Street and scary dreams to you!
