SAN ANTONIO (August 6, 2021) — Yesterday, the District 3 team partnered with Southside ISD for their drive-thru Back-to-School Bash that was held at Southside High School. Superheroes greeted students along the drive thru route and the San Antonio Fire Department created a water-arch at the entrance. Southside ISD students received backpacks, school supplies, hot dogs, t-shirts, and snow cones at the event. Additionally, The University of the Incarnate Word provided Covid-19 vaccines to people ages 12 and older. Those who got their vaccine also received an admission ticket to Six Flags Fiesta Texas.

“Events like these are so important as our students get ready to head back to school,” stated Councilwoman Phyllis Viagran. “We are so proud that District 3 was able to partner with Southside ISD to donate and help distribute over 2,000 backpacks with supplies. We want to make sure our students are equipped for success! District 3 would like to thank The University of the Incarnate Word for administering 143 Covid-19 vaccines – please get vaccinated to protect your friends, family and yourselves. It is so important, especially while heading back to school.”
