SAN ANTONIO (July 26, 2021) — “Since the vaccine rollout, our office has been phasing back in-person meetings and community engagement. However, in light of increasing COVID cases and positivity rates, we will delay in-person meetings until we see a decrease in the infection rate. Public health and safety remain our number one concerns. More than 97% of those hospitalized with the disease are unvaccinated, according to the Southwest Texas Regional Advisory Council (STRAC). Those who have been fully vaccinated are still at risk of infection, but the risk of serious illness remains low. I encourage vaccination for everyone able. The new Delta strain is extremely contagious, and the vaccine is our principal tool in the fight to return to normal.

This was not an easy decision, but I need to do everything possible to stop the spread and lower the risk to our community. Our satellite office hours will be planned through video conference until further notice. Please continue to watch our social media and newsletters for the times and links to join these conversations.

As frustrating as this is, it’s the right decision to protect our team and residents. My staff and I remain available by phone and email.”
