“There is no greater individual who embodies the mission of Communities in Schools than former Councilman Rey Saldaña, he is a proud product of our District 4 community and he continues to flourish in leadership roles including serving as Chair of VIA Metropolitan Transit. Although he will be stepping down from this role and relocating to Washington, D.C. where he will lead the national Communities in Schools organization, District 4 will always be the origin of his achievements. We are proud of his accomplishments and grateful for his work advocating on behalf of the residents.

After serving on the National Board of Directors for Communities in Schools alongside former Secretary of Education Arne Duncan and former NBA Basketball Player Shaquille O’Neal, Rey continues to highlight the remarkable initiatives our City has implemented over the years promoting investments in early education and the importance of community partnerships. As he embarks on this new journey, we wish him the best and hope he continues to share his inspiring path to public service.”
