Here are the top stories today in San Antonio:

  1. DeMarvin Leal, star Texas A&M defensive lineman and former Converse Judson standout, will be spending this Thanksgiving with the San Antonio area community. He, along with the Salvation Army in San Antonio, will be giving out Thanksgiving dinners to families in need during their Thanksgiving 'A Day of Thanks' event. "There's a lot of very unfortunate families out there that aren't able make home-cooked meals and have personal family time, so I really wanted to give back to the community," said Leal. The event will be held at the Salvation Army on 521 West Elmira St. Happy and blessed Thanksgiving to all! (KSAT San Antonio)
  2. If you want to go out and see the holiday lights, but don't feel like walking out in the cold, there are plenty of places in town where you can view them from your warm and cozy vehicles. The lights and trees on the River Walk are already illuminated, as well as the Christmas tree at Travis Park downtown. For those who do want to get out of their cars, there are several venues nearby where you can walk, shop and eat while enjoying the Christmas lights. For a list of more places where you can see the lights, as well as admission costs, please visit: (KSAT San Antonio)
  3. "Come on Baby, Let's do the 'Turkey Twist!'" Henry Ramos from KENS-5 visited two popular San Antonio restaurants that are "putting their spin on Thanksgiving." Mi Tierra Cafe y Panaderia, on 218 Produce Row, features a Mexican-style turkey covered with "mole" — a rich sauce made with 35 ingredients, including cinnamon, almonds and chocolate — as well as a dressing mixed with tamales. Acadiana Cafe, located at 1289 SW Loop 410, serves fried turkeys and a Cajun-style dressing popular in the South that is made with shrimp and rice. Both restaurants will be open on Thanksgiving Day. 4. Hollywood Park in San Antonio will soon have a new fire truck! "Wisconsin-based Pierce Manufacturing, which specializes in building fire trucks, is building a 44-foot-long truck with a 100-foot ladder" to replace the "fire department's 20-year-old truck that has a 75-foot ladder." City officials expect to receive the new fire truck by the end of 2022.
