Here are the top stories in San Antonio today:

  1. The Jewish Federation of San Antonio and Shavano Park kicked off the first night of Hanukkah's 8-day holiday on Sunday, Nov. 28. The annual event featured the lighting of a menorah, as well as songs, crafts and goodie bags for kids. The celebration will continue at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 30, the 3rd night of the holiday. There will be a lighting of a menorah and a concert performance by singer and dancer, Jason Mesches, in the courtyard of the Estancia del Norte Hotel. The concert is hosted by The Jewish Federation of San Antonio's PJ Library program, a literacy program for families with young kids, and is free. For more event details, visit: (Laredo Morning Times)
  2. This holiday season, you won't have to go far to celebrate! There are many free, family-friendly events and places where you can shop for "one-of-a-kind holiday gifts" right here in town! At the same time, you'll be supporting "local independent small businesses" in San Antonio! For a detailed list of places to shop and celebrate the holidays, as well as for a full list of visitor parking areas for the holiday events, click here and visit: (Press Release Desk)
  3. San Antonio's Travis Park, located at 301 E. Travis St., invites the community to celebrate the holidays! There will be many family-friendly events throughout the holidays, such as Christmas tree lightings, holiday-themed movie nights, festive jazz music, pictures with Santa and plenty of tasty eats. 4. The City of San Antonio's Martin Luther King, Jr. Commission and Department of Arts and Culture is holding its 7th Annual Art Contest this year with the theme "Free to be..." The artwork selected "will be used as the visual representation" of that theme and "for promotional materials for the 35th Annual MLK March and Legacy Celebration" which will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 17, 2022. The deadline for art submissions is Wednesday, Dec. 8, by 5 p.m. For more information on the citywide contest, click here. You can also find submission information and art contest guidelines at: (Press Release Desk)
  5. San Antonio is filled with places that cater to those with a sweet tooth, but people are not the only ones who like sweet stuff! Amy Bosquez soon realized that when her boyfriend's untrained dogs, Nacho and Max, ran around in the house all day looking for food! To relieve her stress from the 2 rambunctious dogs, she started baking for them, which calmed them down and brought them all closer. Not only that, but it also was "the start of her now full-time business, Kitchen to K9." Bosquez said "I wanted to use ingredients other than just peanut butter and banana," so she consulted with veterinarians about ingredients that would work well for pets. She now bakes birthday cakes for "bark parties" as well as dog treats with natural ingredients such as fruits, honey and tapioca. "Bosquez hopes to open a store front one day but for now, her pup pies are available at Tootie Pie Co. in Boerne" as well as "at pop-ups or through custom orders online."
