Harmony Students Bring STEM Innovation to Ingram Park Mall

Harmony Public Schools students turned Ingram Park Mall into a hub of innovation as they showcased hands-on science, technology, engineering and math projects during a STEM Expo held in front of JCPenney.

The annual event featured nearly 50 student-led projects from all four Harmony campuses in San Antonio and attracted families and mall shoppers eager to explore interactive STEM experiences. Students demonstrated VEX robotics in real time, produced earsavers and tags using on-site 3D printers, and invited visitors to test their skills through coding games such as Rock Paper Scissors powered by micro:bits.

Designed to connect classroom learning with real-world application, the STEM Expo allowed students to collaborate directly with the community while highlighting the practical impact of STEM education. “This festival gives students a platform to share their passion for STEM and envision how it shapes their future,” Sahin said.

Held Feb. 7, the event offered attendees a firsthand look at how Harmony Public Schools prepares San Antonio students for future careers through creativity, problem-solving and hands-on learning.

Harmony Public Schools is a Texas-born, Texas-wide public charter school system employing roughly 4,000 school professionals statewide. Harmony’s South Texas District offers 9 campuses serving PreK-Grade 12 students in eight South Texas cities, including San Antonio, Laredo, and Brownsville. The school’s curriculum places a heavy focus on STEM skills, character education, project-based learning, and college readiness.
