- The Hayden, a "South Texas diner with an old school Jewish delicatessen soul," located at 4025 Broadway, is holding a fundraiser for their employee Mike Gonzalez, whose son-in-law tragically died last week. The fundraiser called "Meatballs for Mike's Family" started on Tuesday, Feb. 15 and will go on until Saturday, Feb. 19. Spaghetti and meatball plates will be sold for $15 each, and the proceeds of the sales will go to Gonzalez. - Kura Sushi, a revolving sushi bar restaurant, is holding a two-day grand opening celebration and giveaway event on Wednesday, Feb. 16 and Thursday, Feb. 17 starting at 11:30 a.m. "The first 100 dine-in guests will receive a cute sushi towel (similar to a kitchen towel resembling sushi when rolled up)." The menu features more than 140 sushi dishes starting at $2.90 each, and "each dish is protected by Kura's patented Mr. Fresh ventilated sushi lid, which limits airborne exposure and has plate-tracking technology that monitors how long each item has been circulating." They also have an app where guests can "view live wait times and join the restaurant's waitlist remotely" and earn rewards after every $50 that is spent. In addition, each restaurant table has a touch panel prize machine that plays a short animation after every 5 plates ordered and dispenses a prize after every 15 plates. The venue is located at 255 E. Basse Road, Suite 384 in the Alamo Quarry Market, and will open Sunday-Thursday, 11:30 a.m.-9:30 p.m. and Friday-Saturday, 11:30 a.m.-10 p.m. For more details visit: (culturemap.com)
- The South Texas Blood & Tissue Center, in partnership with the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo, are offering a free ticket to the rodeo fairgrounds and a $10 Amazon gift card if you donate blood. Starting Tuesday, Feb. 15 - Thursday, Feb. 17, people can donate blood to receive a rodeo ticket at the South Texas Blood and Tissue Donor Pavilion, located at 6211 IH-10 W. at First Park Ten Blvd. The rodeo will go on until Sunday, Feb. 27 at the AT&T Center, located at 1 AT&T Center Parkway.
