Here are the top stories today in San Antonio:
- Thanksgiving is almost here, and although the pandemic is still around, "the Centers for Disease Control now says families can gather to celebrate, assuming everyone's been vaccinated." Now that we can visit with loved ones during the holidays, why not show off those pandemic baking skills as well? Everyone is likely to appreciate at-home holiday cooking and sharing favorite recipes with each other. For two simple and delicious dessert recipes, visit: (San Antonio Current)
- Tomatillos Café y Cantina, previously located on Broadway, reopened Tuesday, Nov. 16 at its new location on 1827 N. Loop 1604 East, Suite 103. The San Antonio eatery announced the closure in September after being at its old location for almost 25 years, and although they didn't state a reason why they were closing, they're now excited to be serving the community once again! "The new restaurant is open Monday through Thursday 11 a.m.-10 p.m., Friday and Saturday 11 a.m.-11 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m.-8 p.m." (San Antonio Current)
- If you're interested in photography, you won't want to miss The Camera Exchange Fall Expo 2021 this weekend at The Camera Exchange, located at 6635 San Pedro Ave. The store's biggest sale event of the year starts Friday, Nov. 19 and goes on until Sunday, Nov. 21, from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. each day. There will be free gift cards for everyone, free classes, snacks, raffles, giveaways and huge sales! Reps from Sony, Canon, Fujifilm, Tamron and Sigma will be there "to demo the latest gear" and to help you choose the best items for your photography needs! Heavy traffic is anticipated during the 3-day event, so please try to "make arrangements to carpool or ride share." For more details and to register, please visit: (Eventbrite)
- Comedian and actor Felipe Esparza will be at The Tobin Center for Performing Arts on Friday, Dec. 17. As part of his "Unmasked" tour, he will present two back-to-back shows that night, at 7 p.m. and at 9 p.m. Esparza has appeared in several Netflix series and stand-up specials and is currently "developing a sitcom with actor Omar Chaparro and producer Eric Tannenbaum and 3Pas, Eugenio Derbez's production company." Tickets to the show cost $32.50 to $60. Call 210-223-8624 or email the Tobin Center box office at tickets@tobincenter.org for tickets. For more information, visit: (mySanAntonio.com)
