Here are the top stories today in San Antonio:

  1. A stained-glass window at the San Antonio Hermann Sons Home Association (HSHA) is temporarily boarded up as the 84-year-old glass gets updated and repaired. HSHA Board President Lori Todd said, "the glass has been damaged by birds, stones, and hail over the years." The Conservation Society of San Antonio awarded a $10,000 grant to help towards the $12,000 restoration cost, and the rest came from donations, "mostly from bar patrons." Todd said, "The holes in the window have been there for years. We are so thrilled to replace the historic window, and we are very grateful to the Conservation Society for the grant." (mySA)
  2. The Queen of Tejano, Selena Quintanilla, would have turned 51 this Saturday, April 16. To celebrate her, the Pearl at 312 Pearl Parkway in San Antonio is holding a free "Bidi Bidi Party" on Thursday, April 21 from 6-9 p.m. The event will feature the "all-in-one mobile discotheque, Sound Cream Airstream," as well as "live cumbia, Selena hits and other Tejano music provided by DJ Manola Black," and food and beverages from the Bottling Department. For more details please visit: (FOX 7 Austin)
  3. "Whether you celebrate Passover, Easter, or the Easter Bunny," there are several restaurants in town where you can enjoy a nice feast with the family on Sunday, April 17, for the spring holiday! If you're going out to eat, Ambler Texas Kitchen + Cocktails in the Hotel Contessa is hosting an Easter Brunch "with delectable appetizers, entrées, bubbles, and more," and you can "reserve a table online here or contact the restaurant at 210-229-9222." Another place is the Tributary "inside the San Antonio Marriott Rivercenter," that's hosting "a delicious brunch from noon-3 p.m." and is taking reservations here. Then there's the Boiler House, where they're offering brunch and dinner options and are taking reservations at boilerhousesa.com. Now if you're preparing the holiday meal at home, Central Market has "prepared entrées, sides, and baked goods" that you can pick up, and The Jerk Shack has "family packs for $65, which includes 14 pieces of fried or jerk chicken, or mixed chicken for a $3 add on, a choice of three shareable sides, and an order of plantains" and can be ordered at "the restaurant's Toast Tab." And of course, "home-grown favorite" Bakery Lorraine has "special Easter-themed pastries" such as "lemon cake, bunny tarts, Easter moon pies, and chocolate nest tarts." Before you head out to pick up to go items to enjoy at home, please contact the venues for information on ordering. Enjoy and happy holidays! (CultureMap SA)
