🌱Hyatt Regency SA Hotel Renovated + All Aboard With Rhetta At SA Zoo

Here are the top stories in San Antonio today:

  1. The Hyatt Regency San Antonio, located at 123 Losoya St., "recently announced the completion of a $38 million renovation." The project was "conducted by San Antonio-based Canco Construction, national design firm DLR Group, and Lombardi Construction." Philip Stamm, area vice president and general manager of Hyatt Regency San Antonio, said, "We are ecstatic to celebrate the momentous milestone anniversary of 40 years in the San Antonio community with a new and vibrant chapter for our iconic River Walk hotel."   2. A "new bar and restaurant" called the Crocket Tavern just opened on Monday, June 20, inside the downtown Crockett Hotel. Their menu features "country-style" food and drinks and the interior decor includes artwork related to the "Battle of the Alamo." Eventually they plan "to host live country music." The venue is "located on the first floor" of the hotel, at 320 Bonham St., and opens every day from 11 a.m.-midnight. For more details visit: (mySA)
  3. Rhetta Minnis, the conductor of the "San Antonio Zoo train," which opened in 1956, has been "driving it for years." Already "she has completed 38,000 miles" since she started 15 years ago! Every day, "she shows up two hours before the first scheduled ride at 9 a.m., and she walks the tracks to make sure everything is clear." Once she sees that there are no problems, she sits in the conductor cab and announces, "The train is getting ready to leave the station please stand clear of the train."   4. Now that summer is here, wouldn't it be fun to have a pet to play with the kids while they're out from school? There are actually many pets waiting to be adopted at various animal shelters in San Antonio! "According to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty of Animals, millions of pets and other companion animals are surrendered or taken in each year by animal rescue organizations nationwide."   5. The SuperHero Car Show and Comic-Con, sponsored by Thomas J. Henry and hosted by the Celebrity Fan Fest, will be held from Aug. 4-7 at the Freeman Expo Hall, located at 3201 E. Houston St. Guests will include celebrities, professional wrestlers, and "well-known faces from 'Star Wars' and 'Ghostbusters.'" The event will also feature "45 legendary Hollywood vehicles from notable films and television shows" such as "the 1966 Batcycle, the 1966 Batmobile, 'Bad Boys' vehicles, Herbie, the DeLorean from 'Back to the Future,' and the Scooby-Doo Mystery Machine."
