- Due to the extreme high temperatures, some local businesses are making changes "to help beat the summer heat." One is the San Antonio Zoo, which is closing early on weekdays. Zoo official Cyle Perez said, "We're closing at 4 p.m. [on weekdays]. Just because that is really when everything gets hot. This is the first time that we've closed early for a heat advisory." Another is Toyota Texas where, according to a post, "are adjusting and reducing production at TMMTX while also contributing to efforts to conserve energy in Texas." Per Metro Health, since March 15 "there have been more than 270 cases of heat exhaustion." It's advised that if there are "any symptoms of heat stroke" during outdoor activities, a doctor should be seen immediately. (WOAI)
- Around 5 p.m. on Thursday, July 14, 13-year-old Dynisha Jones went missing from the Northeast side of town. A notice from the Bexar County Sheriff's office described the girl and requested that individuals contact their office if they had any information. - For all those with a sweet tooth, here's some "sweet" news! The "Sugar Factory American Brasserie is now open at The Shops at Rivercenter, making the location the second Texas location in a chain that spans the country." The restaurant, located at the Rivercenter Mall on the San Antonio River Walk near Margaritaville and Hooters, features more than 50 kinds of tantalizing treats, as well as "a full food menu for brunch, lunch, and dinner." Their hours are 11 a.m.-midnight, Monday-Thursday; 11 a.m.-1 a.m. Friday and Saturday; and 10 a.m.-midnight on Sundays. (mySA)
- According to online review site Yelp, two of the top 25 "best ice cream spots in Texas" are right here in San Antonio! Yelp's choices were based on various factors, "including total volume and ratings of reviews between Jan. 1, 2021, and June 30, 2022, and health inspection scores. "Arctic Ape Wild Desserts, located at 5221 Walzem Road, ranked No. 25 on Yelp's list. The shop "offers customers several options to create their own ice cream using a variety of flavors, syrups and toppings."
