🌱 Julian Castro Now Show Host And Professor + Empty The Shelter In SA

Here are the top stories today in San Antonio:

  1. Julián Castro, "former San Antonio mayor and Obama administration cabinet member," hosted the MSNBC show, "American Voices," for Alicia Menendez this past weekend. The show "spotlights the largest political stories and highlights underrepresented stories." Castro originally "signed on as a guest political analyst with MSNBC and NBC News in July 2021," but "this is the first time he's filled in for a hosting gig." Besides his new political analyst position, Castro is also taking on a "professor role at Harvard University," where he received his Harvard Law degree in 2000, "after earning his bachelor's degree in political science and communications from Stanford in 1996."   2. Several San Antonio animal shelters will be participating in the national "Empty the Shelters" animal adoption event from May 2-8. The event is held "to reduce the risk of overcrowding" at which time, the "participating shelters will reduce adoption rates for cats and dogs to $25 or less, thanks to the BISSELL Pet Foundation." Cathy Bissell, founder of BISSELL Pet Foundation, said, "Shelters across the country are over capacity, and highly adoptable pets are at risk as we face one of the largest crises in recent years." She added, "BISSELL Pet Foundation is calling on people to visit their community shelters during 'Empty the Shelters' to save a life through adoption.   3. On Saturday, April 28, San Antonio will start offering RedCoach luxury bus services at the stop on "165 Bowie St., near the San Antonio Marriott Rivercenter." Individuals will travel to Austin, Dallas, Houston, Richardson, and Waco "for as low as $15 each way" on "26-seat luxury buses" which feature "amenities such as bed-like seats that recline up to 140 degrees, complementary Wi-Fi, 110-volt power outlets, on-board entertainment, reserved seating, and no baggage fees." Florencia Cirigliano, vice president of marketing and sales at RedCoach, said, "We understand that the travel industry is causing stress for residents with increased gas, airline, and car rental prices, so RedCoach is thrilled to add a San Antonio stop to our Texas routes.   4. From now until May 8, "the San Antonio Zoo is hosting the 'On a Stick Festival' with tasty features such as "chicken on a stick, sausage on a stick, turkey legs and more." In addition, "The Queen of Tejano music" will be celebrated with Selena's musical hits, a Selena costume contest, and photos "with a Selena impersonator." For more details visit: (KENS5.com)

In March, reggaeton artist Daddy Yankee "announced his retirement from the music industry at the age of 45" and at that time, "he also revealed the dates for his farewell tour, 'La Ultima Vuelta.'" After a sold-out show at the AT&T Center on Sept. 14, "the AT&T Center announced" a second show for Dec. 16.
