- Stars shone bright this past weekend in the Lone Star State! News 4 and Fox San Antonio earned 14 Lone Star Emmy nominations! The selections ranged "from overall excellence to hard news reports." Among those selected were News 4 San Antonio: Here 4 You-Dean Radla for Overall Excellence, and Election Night in Texas: Luis Escamilla, Keith McMahan, Blaise Labbe for Technical Achievement. To them and to the rest of the nominees, good luck and keep shining! (FOX 29)
- Ana Maria Carpio held a 19th birthday celebration this past Saturday for her late son, Sebastian Carpio, who was murdered a year ago. Friends and family accompanied her at the memorial, held at San Fernando Cemetery #3, to offer their support in her fight for justice. "On Thursday, Sept. 30, she plans to gather the community together at the Bexar County Juvenile Detention Center where the suspect arrested for this case is currently in custody." The gathering will be held at 9 a.m. and she invites families with similar tragic situations to come and let their voices be heard. (KSAT San Antonio)
- Get your cups ready! National Coffee Day is coming up on Wednesday, Sept. 29! Lots of fresh java deals will be brewing in San Antonio, including free and discounted coffee, as well as "several online offers." - ZOO BOO! I see you at The San Antonio Zoo! This non-scary Halloween family celebration is presented by Valero Benefit for Children and is open daily until Sunday, Oct. 31. Kids are invited to dress up and participate in a daily costume contest for a chance to win a zoo prize pack. - The Jurassic Quest touring exhibit is here in town until Sunday, Oct. 3, at the San Antonio Freeman Coliseum!
