City Council authorized a contract to bring shade canopies and increased security lighting, among other improvements, to Nani Falcone Park as part of the voter-approved 2017 Bond.
“The community has looked forward to these improvements since the day the bond passed back in 2017,” said Councilwoman Ana Sandoval. “This project is just another example of how the City’s investing in green spaces that support happy, healthy residents.”

As part of the park improvements, the City will construct new shade canopies in the dog park, increase security lighting in the parking areas, place new benches and picnic tables, and install wheel stops in the parking area to maximize the available parking spaces.
“I’m confident the dog park will become even more popular with the new shade canopies we’re installing,” Councilwoman Sandoval.
Construction on the $132,769 project is anticipated to begin in March 2020 and estimated to be completed by July 2020. This project will be followed by an expansion of the existing frisbee golf course that will turn it into San Antonio’s first 21-hole frisbee golf course. The frisbee golf course expansion is the result of a partnership between the City of San Antonio and local frisbee golf players, who are making significant contributions to the project.
