Here are the top stories today in San Antonio:
- The Leadership San Antonio Alumni Association (LSA AA) raised $43,177.80 from individual and corporate matching donations to help 302,239 families in need during the holidays. The money was raised at a special fundraiser hosted by LSA AA to benefit the San Antonio Food Bank at the Pape-Dawson Engineers office building located at 2000 N.W. Loop 410. In addition to monetary gifts, the alumni donated canned goods, cereal, peanut butter and more. Ashley Harris-Dumulong, LSA Class 39 graduate and event volunteer, said: "Congratulations to LSA class 40 for their efforts. That's what the LSA Alumni Association is all about, fulfilling the promise we made to our class and our community." (Press Release Desk)
- There are so many great places to visit in San Antonio during the holidays, but one of the greatest attractions is the San Antonio Riverwalk, "a 15-mile long stretch of downtown shops, restaurants, bars and more." Each year after Thanksgiving, the Riverwalk is illuminated with millions of colorful lights, and this season they will stay on until Jan. 10, 2022. For more information on this and other local holiday attractions, visit: (The Killeen Daily Herald)
- Tamales and the holidays go hand in hand in San Antonio, where two local eateries landed on Yelp's ranking of Texas' 10 best places for tamales. Southside tiendas B & B Tamales located at 866 W. Mayfield Blvd. earned spot No. 5, and Del Rio Tortilla Factory at 1402 Gillette Blvd. came in 9th place. "To make the list, Yelp identified tamale businesses in its restaurant and food categories, then ranked them using factors including both their overall ratings and their total review volumes." If you haven't ordered your holiday tamales, you may want to rush over to one or both of those shops to get some of the best in town. Before heading over, please make sure they are open and are still taking orders or walk-in and pick-up orders. 'Feliz Navidad!' (San Antonio Current)
- If you're in the mood for some tasty Philly cheesesteaks, you don't have to travel far to Philadelphia to get some, as you can probably find them right here in town! There are several venues in San Antonio that serve "some incredibly flavorful Philly cheesesteaks!" For a list of local eateries that are worth trying, visit: (mySanAntonio.com)
