Mayor Nirenberg announces COVID-19 recovery priorities

SAN ANTONIO (May 7, 2020) — Mayor Nirenberg outlined his Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act investment priorities at Thursday’s City Council A-Session meeting. The City of San Antonio’s allocation from the coronavirus relief fund is $270 million.

“As we work to balance recovery efforts with our region’s ongoing health response, it’s critical that we utilize the opportunity before us to set a course toward a better normal for San Antonio.

Going forward, the focus of my office will be getting San Antonio residents online, educated, and trained for the post-COVID-19 economy. No student should go without the Internet they need to complete their education. No resident should go without the training and means they need to provide for their family.

There are difficult days ahead of us, but I remain confident that we will get through this together. I look forward to working with my Council colleagues to realize these goals as we deliver a brighter future for our great city.”
