Here are the top stories today in San Antonio:
- The Beignet Stand at 8343 Broadway held its grand opening on Wednesday, April 20. Their menu features beignets with fillings and sauces such as "honey-butter, white chocolate-orange-rum-marmalade and matcha-cherry blossom," as well as delicious "cafe au lait." The new venue opens Wednesday through Friday from 7 a.m.-2 p.m. For more details visit: (San Antonio Current)
- Construction of "Weston Urban's next big skyline-altering project" is set to begin soon in San Antonio, "kicking off the Frost Tower developers refocus on the residential market." The new Weston Urban project will be a "32-story luxury apartment tower called 300 Main," and will be located at 305 Soledad St. near the Frost Tower. Once it's finished, it will feature "a 696,000-square-foot building with ground-floor retail, a six-level parking garage, and 354 multi-family residential units" with "access to two amenity decks, a state-of-the-art fitness center, and apartments with high-end finishes." - The Guadalupe Arts Center will present the play "Interview with a Mexican!" on Friday, May 6 and Saturday, May 7 at the Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center, located at 1301 Guadalupe St. The performances will begin at 8 p.m. and general admission tickets will cost $12 per person. "'Interview with a Mexican!' is a touring production by Denver-based Su Teatro Cultural & Performing Arts Center and an original play by Su Teatro executive artistic director and resident playwright Anthony J. Garcia." Su Teatro is nationally recognized for its"home-grown productions that speak to the history and experience of Chicanos" and "Garcia has created over 40 original plays and adaptations." Jorge Piña, theater manager for the Guadalupe Theater, said, "Su Teatro's work and contribution to theater is widely recognized. I am very honored Su Teatro is returning to the Guadalupe stage."
