Here are the top stories today in San Antonio:

  1. There's a new White Rhino VFX studio in San Antonio! Daniel Saldivar, CEO and founder, graduate from Warren High School and UTSA and "is expanding his studios throughout the country, and "moving back to downtown San Antonio is part of his wanting to pull in more local talent. The new space is meant to mark White Rhino's 10-year anniversary," which Saldivar launched as a full-time student in 2012. He said, "We've had great opportunities, our stuff has been on the big screen, our stuff has been on streaming, our stuff has been all over the place." He added, "But at the end the day, we're from San Antonio, so we're humble. We do our work." For more details on the studio, please visit: (mySA)
  2. A group of first grade students from Bonnie Ellison Elementary School are raising funds to help people in Ukraine. On Saturday, March 5, they sold cookies outside the Stonewall Estates neighborhood with their families and in just 2 hours they raised $765, and they plan to do it again soon! One father said, "I just can't imagine being a parent where I'd have to say goodbye to my daughter because I have to go fight a war, so it just really hits me." He added, "Anything we can do, we'll do it to make a difference." For more information visit: (KENS5.com)
  3. In March of last year, "Cindy Venegas and Victor Serna's lives turned upside down" when they found out their 5-year-old daughter, Stella, had brain cancer. Since then, their days are filled with worry and doctor's appointments but "for the most part," she feels well and her parents "want to take advantage of that by fulfilling her dream of going to Disney World." Serna said, "Make-A-Wish did reach out to us, but at the time, they couldn't fulfill that wish because of COVID-19." Although they could have been put on a waiting list, priority was given to children with shorter timeframes, and Vanegas said, "I didn't want to take that away from any other kids that need to go, since she is doing better." She added, "I figured we could just get the funds together." Their family and friends encouraged them to ask for help and although they hesitated at first, they soon realized that the community really wanted to help. Because of that, Stella's Disney GoFundMe page was set up, and they hope to go to Disney World this summer "before Stella's 7th birthday in August."
