- After a streaming presentation last year due to COVID-19, The Children's Ballet of San Antonio will perform the Children's "Nutcracker" live this year at the Lila Cockrell Theatre, located at 200 E. Market St. This year's features include contactless pictures with Santa, shopping for Holiday Market dress up items, and interactive surprises for the audience. There will also be hot chocolate, holiday cookies, hot dogs, burgers, and popcorn. The show will be Friday, Dec. 10 at 7 p.m.; Saturday, Dec. 11 at 2 p.m. and at 7 p.m. "Holiday Market and photos with Santa opens one hour prior to showtime." Event proceeds benefit "the Children's Ballet of San Antonio, a nonprofit organization with a mission to provide accessible and high quality dance education to children of all backgrounds." - After 2 years of being closed due to COVID-19, San Antonio's outdoor ice rink opens up once again on Friday, Nov. 19. Guests will be able to skate around Travis Park at the Rotary Ice Rink, located at 301 E. Travis St. More than 50,000 skaters are expected at this year's event, organized by the Rotary Club of San Antonio and by Centro San Antonio. Brandon Logan, past president of Rotary Club of San Antonio and Rink visionary, said, "After a challenging couple of years, this is the perfect opportunity and space for the community to gather in beautiful downtown to celebrate the season and one another." - If you'd rather not make your own desserts this holiday season, there are many local places where you can order Thanksgiving pies, and they're probably just as good! Thanks to 10 local bakeries in San Antonio, you'll be able to enjoy scrumptious desserts with your family and at the same time, spend more quality time with them. - For the third year in a row, the San Antonio Tamales Festival is coming back, and it's expected to be bigger than ever! Approximately 30 vendors will be there selling food like tacos, and of course, tamales! Pop-up vendors will also be there "for anyone looking to support local businesses and get some Christmas shopping done." The event will also feature music performances by "Liz Garcia LaCantante, last year's winner for SA Magazines Best of City Musician, Grupo Folklorico de Bendicioes, DJ Samurai, mariachi bands and more."
