  1. On Monday, July 11, "officials with the City of San Antonio, CPS Energy, SAWS and VIA held a briefing about coordinated efforts to keep people safe and keep city services up during the extreme heat." Although ERCOT doesn't "expect any system-wide outages like during the winter storm of 2021," rolling blackouts may occur, but they would only last around "15 minutes and would be more equitable than in the winter of 2021 due to improvements within their system." Rudy Garza, interim president of CPS Energy, urges CPS customers "to set their AC to 78 degrees or higher, turn off lights and avoid doing laundry or using other large appliances" during the energy-saving peak hours of 2-8 p.m. (KSAT San Antonio)
  2. On Saturday, July 9, local Jewish community leaders placed "synagogues and other facilities on high alert... after being informed by the FBI of a potential threat." Fortunately, hours later the Jewish Federation of San Antonio received word from the FBI that "there was no longer any 'known imminent threat' for the local Jewish community." 3. Pickle lovers "are in for a treat" with the new pickle-flavored beer by Martin House Brewing Company! "The North Texas-based brewery known for its wacky craft beer flavors announced" the new brew on Monday, July 11. The "beer line is brewed in partnership" between Fort-Worth based Martin Housing Brewing Company and Best Maid Pickles. Beginning next week, you can buy it at local H-E-B stores and wherever "seasonal Martin House beers" are sold. (mySA)
  4. Angel Cintron, who was "born and raised" in San Antonio, recently recorded a single titled "Know My Name." The song and the rest of her music can be streamed "across all platforms," and updates on "all of her projects" can be seen on Instagram. To listen to her speak about "her upcoming music" and for "a special performance of her fantastic new single" visit: (KENS5.com)
  5. With the high summer temperatures San Antonio has been having lately, it's hard to dream "of a white Christmas right about now," but you can still celebrate "Christmas in July" at "The Grand Hyatt River Walk" hotel on Tuesday, July 26! From 6-8 p.m., there will be "live holiday music, fake snow, complimentary appetizers, an ugly sweater/T-shirt/hat contest and more." Guests may donate "like-new business attire and medical scrubs as an entrance fee" for Dress for Success San Antonio. They can also park for free "at city-operated parking garages, parking lots and parking meters" from 5 p.m.-2 a.m. during "Downtown Tuesday."
