Robert Santos from San Antonio is now the new leader of "one of the highest-profile agencies in the federal government" as he "was recently sworn in as the 26th director of the U.S. Census Bureau" and is the first Latino to hold that position. "Arturo Vargas, CEO of the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials Educational Fund, said in November that he hopes Santos 'will bring his life experience and cultural understanding of the Latino community to pursue new strategies to improve the count of Latinos.'"
