- This holiday season, the San Antonio community can celebrate "the most wonderful time of the year" with events which abound in the city, such as Christmas festivals and free holiday events, among others. This December, take the family and out-of-town visitors for a fun Christmas outing filled with holiday music, twinkling lights and pictures with Santa! - You don't have to live up north to cut your own Christmas tree! There are actually several tree farms where you can cut your own Christmas tree right here in town. "Christmas tree farms grow trees specifically to allow customers to chop them down at the holidays so you don't have to worry that you may be clear-cutting a forest." - A third Fish City Grill restaurant is opening up next spring at The Shops at South Rim, the new upscale shopping center located at the northwest corner of Loop 1604 and Vance Jackson Road. The new eatery on 5311 N. Loop 1604 W. will have indoor seating and a spacious patio and will feature all-time favorites on the menu like grilled salmon, fish tacos, fish and chips, and seafood platters of catfish, shrimp, and oysters. They will also have a full bar with a specialty cocktail menu. Bill Bayne, co-founder of Fish City Grill, said, "There is so much excitement in the area surrounding the South Rim, and we're happy to bring our casual, coastal dining experience to the neighborhood." - The San Antonio International Airport recently welcomed aboard their newest staff members: Sally, a 48-pound yellow lab, and handler Darrell Hagan. They "were the first of four TSA Passenger Screening Canine teams added at San Antonio International Airport to provide an extra layer of security for travelers." In November, they were joined by Jenny Angeles and her German Shepherd, Tex, and two additional teams will be added in the months to come. "The local airport has never before had a Passenger Screening Canine team of its own" but now "the airport also will have dog teams specifically trained to screen passengers, both at security and in the terminals." Jess Presas, TSA Federal Security director at San Antonio International Airport, said, "he's been wanting to procure a team for nearly a decade and thanks to work with Airport Director Jesus Saenz and elected officials, including Rep. Tony Gonzales, that dream has finally become a reality." For more information on the TSA Passenger Screening Canines, visit: (San Antonio Magazine)
