SA Lights + Dang!wich + KSAT No Shave + Altar + Boozy Icy & Sushi

Your five-minute guide to everything worth knowing today in San Antonio.

Happy Tuesday, people of San Antonio! Here are the most important things happening today in town.

First, today's weather:

Partly sunny and nice. High: 82 Low: 64.

Here are the top stories in San Antonio today:

  1. There will be plenty of twinkling lights all over the Alamo City this holiday season! "From drive-thru lights to lights you can take in through a boat on the River Walk or even by taking a free stroll," there will be many options to enjoy the holiday lights in San Antonio. Some of them will be free and some will charge a cost per vehicle, but for a list of five local lights displays with details, visit: (KENS5.com)
  2. Hoagie pop-up Dang!wich restaurant will be having a "souper" event on "souper" bowl Sunday, Nov. 7 from 5-8 p.m. at Vista Brewing, located at 1333 Buena Vista St. Owners Matt McLaughlin and Maray McChesney will "serve up two versions of savory, comforting bowls of soup — one vegetarian-friendly and one with meat — with a piece of house-baked focaccia bread" on the side. Brews from their brewery will be available for sale, but the menu for the event is yet to be released. For more information, visit: (San Antonio Current)
  3. The friendly faces on KSAT TV will look more like faces of strangers over the next few weeks. As No Shave November is coming up, some men in the KSAT newsroom are growing up their facial care for a cause. The cause, which started in 2009, is to raise funds for cancer research, treatment, and prevention. Sara Svendsen from the web-based nonprofit said, "We are hoping that we can continue to use our voice to educate and prevent and spread awareness." This year, KSAT hopes to raise more than $10,000 for 10 cancer foundations. To donate, click here and for a list of KSAT Team members and the reason for their participation, visit: (KSAT San Antonio)
  4. Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) is a very important tradition in San Antonio, and there are many special altars all around the city that offer healing and solace for those who have lost loved ones. One place ready to offer that comfort to the local community is La Buena Gente de Esperanza, which is holding their annual celebration at Rinconcito de Esperanza from Nov. 1-8. "The group is building a large community altar at the corner of Guadalupe Street & South Colorado Street to honor community members held dear to their hearts, as well as the many victims from COVID-19." The community altar is open 24/7 and you can put up pictures of loved ones until Monday, Nov. 8. For more information, visit: (KSAT San Antonio)
  5. Bring on the boozy ice cream and the sushi burritos! Cincinnati-based sushi burrito spot Roll On In and Buzzed Bull Creamery will share a location along Loop 1604 and Redland Road next spring! The new eatery will feature Roll On In's "rice-based bowls, salads, and sushi burritos made with seaweed or soy wraps" and Buzzed Bull Creamery's "alcohol-infused ice cream and milkshakes which start at 5 percent ABV," among other "tasting flights of rotating monthly flavors."
