Here are the top stories today in San Antonio:

  1. Although musicians with the San Antonio symphony have been on strike for 4 months now, symphony officials and musicians will be joining together for a mediation session on Monday, Feb. 14 and "Symphony Executive Director Corey Cowart is optimistic about ending the strike." The symphony has been working with the musicians on a mutually agreed upon contract for almost a year now, but despite several proposals, there has been little progress and the musicians are holding strong with their strike. According to Cowart, "symphony management wants nothing more than to come to an agreement." He said, "The fact that we're meeting and talking and making proposals is a good sign for the future." 2. After intermittent pauses due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Bottling Department Food Hall at the Pearl opened again for regular dine-in services as of Tuesday, Jan. 25. "The Bottling Department hosts Tenko Ramen, Chilaquil, Mi Roti, Fletcher's Hamburgers and the Park Bar under one roof" and "serves as an incubator program for locally owned, food-focused businesses." Where the dining room was closed, guests sat outside and ordered "from the hall's restaurants using QR codes or the retail and dining complex's delivery website, Pearl On The Go," but now full seating indoors has returned. The venue is open Sunday-Thursday, 8 a.m.-9 p.m. and Friday-Saturday, 8 a.m.-10 p.m. For more details, visit: (San Antonio Current)
  3. The first combination Lowe's and Petco store will be opening up in February at San Antonio's Alamo Ranch area. In addition to home supplies, the store will sell pet supplies and will offer animal services, such as vaccination clinics and pet grooming services. According to Lowe's, "more than 11 million new pets entered U.S. homes since the start of the COVID pandemic" so "it makes sense to serve both." Bill Boltz, Lowe's executive vice president of merchandising said, "For many of our customers, their pets and their homes top the list of things that matter most, especially after two years spent mostly together within the same four walls."
